Time Change

Based on my social media feeds, I may be the ONLY person who actually likes the time change, but I do! I love it!

I love how much cozier the evenings feel. In some ways, everything seems to slow down. We don't feel as rushed, trying to beat the sun clock. We change into pajamas earlier. We snuggle more. We cook more comfort foods like lasagna and chili. We're in total homebody mode.

Maybe the dark tucks us in earlier so that we don't feel the need to be out and about, running errands or staying busy. It feels so natural to be home and without any other agenda.

The consensus in this family is that we love the time change. What about you? What's your preference?

  1. I'm not a fan, mostly because when I get home, it's already dark (or very close to dark). I miss out on Eli riding his bike, sitting with Hannah on the porch and taking walks through the neighborhood with both kids before the sun sets.

Before the time change, I could get home and enjoy an hour with the sun still in the sky. And since we were all enjoying our time together, it was OK to eat a later dinner and then almost immediately start our bedtime routine of baths, books, etc. Sure, we can still play together and hang out indoors... but sometimes it's too easy to turn on the TV or grab the iPad.

I love the cooler weather and the coziness of it all... but I miss our tim outside more.

  2. I get that. My kids have always gone to bed so early that I guess I don't feel like I'm missing out on much. It's almost the opposite effect for me -- an excuse to be content right where we are.
